Usage

Allyl Alcohol is a preliminary product for the production of allyl esters and allyl ethers, pharmaceuticals and aroma. Allyl alcohol itself is used as pesticide in the cultivation of tobacco.

Synthesis

Allyalkohol can can be obtained by the reaction of glycerol and formic acid or by dehydrogenation of propanol with selenium dioxide as a catalyst.

Effects

The narcotic effect of Allyl Alcohol is substantially stronger compared with the satisfied aliphatic alcohols.
